TLDR Early diagnosis and treatment of Kaposi varicelliform eruption are crucial to prevent severe complications.
A 26-year-old man with pemphigus vulgaris developed Kaposi varicelliform eruption (KVE), presenting with high fever and multiple fluid-filled lesions. Examination revealed vesicular and erosive lesions with facial edema. Blood and pus cultures identified Staphylococcus aureus, and histopathology suggested herpes infection. The patient was treated with intravenous acyclovir, piperacillin-tazobactam, and linezolid, resulting in healed lesions with scarring. KVE, a potentially life-threatening viral infection, often occurs over pre-existing dermatoses and requires prompt antiviral and antibiotic treatment. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent severe complications.
