TLDR Isotretinoin treatment improved scalp condition and stopped hair loss.
Perifolliculitis capitis abscedens et suffodiens was a rare chronic follicular disorder characterized by pustules, nodules, and abscesses leading to scarring. Its exact cause was unknown, but it was associated with the follicular occlusion triad, suggesting a common pathogenic mechanism. A 34-year-old man with this condition, presenting with alopecia and nodules on his scalp, was treated with isotretinoin for 6 months. The treatment significantly improved his clinical appearance, and no local recurrence or further hair loss was observed.
