TLDR Pregnant women with isolated hypothyroxinemia face more health issues, so iodine and folic acid supplements are important before and during early pregnancy.
The study investigated the impact of isolated hypothyroxinemia in pregnant women on obstetric and somatic pathologies. It included 104 pregnant women with isolated hypothyroxinemia and 58 without thyroid pathology. Findings indicated that those with hypothyroxinemia experienced more asthenia, dry skin, hair loss, fragile nails, vomiting, and anemia. They also had higher rates of allergic disorders, primary dysmenorrhea, and spontaneous abortions. The study suggested that iodine deficiency likely existed before pregnancy and emphasized the importance of iodine supplementation and thyroid status monitoring to prevent complications.
