TLDR Ischemia-modified albumin is not effective for diagnosing stable angina compared to exercise stress tests.
The study involving 108 patients with stable angina pectoris found no significant difference between ischemia-modified albumin (IMA) and exercise stress tests in detecting myocardial ischemia. IMA was not a useful biomarker for diagnosing myocardial ischemia in these patients, nor could it replace exercise ECG for those unable to perform it. While IMA has been beneficial in acute coronary syndromes, this research did not support its role in stable coronary artery disease (CAD), as IMA levels were similar in patients with and without CAD. The study was the first to compare IMA with exercise ECG in this context, but its findings were specific to stable CAD and not applicable to all acute coronary syndrome cases.
