Efficacy of Intralesional Injection of Vitamin D3 in Treatment of Alopecia Areata

    TLDR Intralesional vitamin D3 is a safe, effective treatment for patchy alopecia areata.
    The study evaluated the efficacy of intralesional vitamin D3 injections in treating patchy alopecia areata in 20 adult patients. Over four sessions, each patient received 1 ml of vitamin D3. The treatment's effectiveness was assessed using dermoscopy and a 5-point semiquantitative regrowth score (RGS). Results showed a significant improvement in hair regrowth with a p-value of 0.001, and by the third month, signs of improvement were evident. The study concluded that intralesional vitamin D3 is a safe, cost-effective treatment for patchy alopecia areata.
