TLDR Current treatments for androgenetic alopecia are often ineffective and have side effects, needing better options.
This review investigates recent innovations in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA), highlighting that many current treatments have limited efficacy and significant side effects. The analysis of 14 selected studies from an initial pool of 42 reveals that topical medications, both alone and in combination with oral therapies, as well as innovative treatments like lasers and microneedling, show statistically significant reductions in AGA indicators. The review underscores the need for more effective and safer treatment options, emphasizing the complexity of AGA treatment and the necessity for further research to establish clear guidelines for affected individuals.
