TLDR Injectable platelet-rich fibrin can safely and effectively treat melasma.
The study evaluated the efficacy of injectable platelet-rich fibrin (I-PRF) in treating melasma using a rat model. Sprague Dawley rats with melasma were divided into experimental and control groups, with the experimental group receiving weekly intradermal injections of I-PRF and the control group receiving saline. After four weeks, the results showed that I-PRF inhibited melanin production in the epidermis and reduced oxidative stress damage in the cortex, leading to an improvement in melasma. The study concluded that I-PRF is a safe and cost-effective treatment for melasma.
