TLDR Clove, olive, and turpentine oils stop fungi from penetrating hair.
The study tested the hair perforating ability of the fungi Microsporum gypseum and Trichophyton vanbreuseghemii in the presence of 17 different oils. It was found that clove, olive, and turpentine oils completely inhibited hair penetration by both fungi. Additionally, hair treated with cantheridine oil and keocarpin hair vitalizer showed no perforation by T. vanbreuseghemii, while arnica and shikakai oils resulted in minimal perforation by this fungus.
