TLDR Diet B improved dogs' skin and hair condition.
The study investigated the impact of diets rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and related nutrients on the skin and hair coat conditions of 24 dogs over a 12-week period. The dogs were divided into three groups, each receiving a different diet with varying levels of zinc, linoleic acid, and alpha-linolenic acid. The research aimed to assess the effects of these dietary components on sebum lipids and the hair cycle phases. Results showed that Diet B, which had higher levels of linoleic acid and zinc, led to significant increases in certain lipid measures and prolonged the anagen phase of hair follicles, indicating improved skin and hair coat conditions.
