TLDR Cosmetic procedures generally improve social interactions and self-esteem, especially for women.
The study involving 100 Indian patients (50 male, 50 female) aged 28-50 examined the impact of cosmetic procedures, such as rhinoplasty and hair transplantation, on interpersonal relationships. It found that these treatments generally improved relationships with family and peers, enhancing social interactions and increasing attention from friends and the opposite gender. While beauty perception is influenced by societal and racial factors, the study noted that appearance significantly impacts friendships and social interactions, with features like thick hair and symmetry being highly valued. Despite gender differences in perceptions, cosmetic procedures were found to positively influence self-esteem and social connections, particularly among women. The study suggests further research on self-confidence changes and comparisons between individuals who have and have not undergone cosmetic procedures.
