TLDR Topical melatonin and brushing did not affect hair regrowth in Siberian Huskies.
In a study of 24 Siberian Husky dogs, researchers found that hair in the lumbosacral region grew shorter than hair on the lateral thigh 2 months after clipping. The study, which aimed to assess the effects of body site, topical melatonin, and brushing on hair regrowth, showed no significant differences in hair regrowth between thighs treated with 0.1% melatonin, brushed thighs, and non-treated thighs. Additionally, there were no significant changes in dermal inflammation due to brushing or in the proportion of anagen follicles due to melatonin treatment. The conclusion was that neither topical melatonin nor brushing had an effect on hair regrowth in normal dogs.
