Side Effects of Transplant Immunosuppressive Therapy in Post Renal Transplant Recipients, Mazandaran, Northern Iran

    TLDR Almost all kidney transplant patients had complications from immunosuppressive therapy, with excessive hair growth being the most common.
    This study, conducted on 188 renal transplant patients in Shahid Beheshti hospital in 2013, investigated complications from immunosuppressive therapy. It found that 96.3% of patients experienced at least one complication, with excessive hair growth being the most common, affecting 75.5% of participants. Increased blood sugar was also prevalent, affecting 63.3% of patients. Severe gingival overgrowth was significantly more common in women than men. The study concluded that nearly all transplant recipients experienced complications, highlighting the need for early diagnosis, control, and treatment, as well as regular patient education and monitoring.
