Immunomorphological Features of Female Patient’s Skin with Androgenetic Alopecia in the Treatment of Platelet-Rich Plasma in Combination with Topical Minoxidil 2% Lotion

    Olena Salyenkova
TLDR The combined treatment improved scalp health in women with early-stage hair loss.
The study examined the immunohistochemical changes in scalp biopsies of 30 female patients with early-stage androgenetic alopecia (AGA) before and after a 3-month treatment combining platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections and topical minoxidil 2% lotion. Results showed that AGA is associated with inflammatory perifollicular infiltration, growth polypeptide imbalances, oxidative stress enzyme accumulation, and pathological collagen IV accumulation. The combined treatment normalized these immunohistochemical parameters, suggesting its potential for long-term therapeutic effects. However, further research is needed to better understand AGA pathomorphology and standardize PRP treatment techniques.
