TLDR Adriamycin and ifosfamide together work best for advanced soft tissue sarcomas.
Between 1978 and 1985, a study treated 33 patients with advanced soft tissue sarcomas using ifosfamide combination chemotherapy. Partial remission was observed in 7 patients (21%), with a median remission duration of 3.5 months, but no complete remissions occurred. Side effects included nausea, vomiting, myelosuppression, and hair loss, which were generally moderate. Elevated creatinine and low serum albumin were identified as contraindications for ifosfamide therapy to prevent fatal CNS complications, particularly in elderly patients. The study suggested that the most effective chemotherapy for these sarcomas was a combination of adriamycin and ifosfamide.
