TLDR 2h-ICPR can help screen for insulin antibodies in type 2 diabetes patients.
The study examined the relationship between the 2-hour insulin to C-peptide molar ratio (2h-ICPR) and insulin antibodies (IAs) in 274 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. It found that 2h-ICPR, along with age, BMI, and HbA1c, can predict IA levels, suggesting that 2h-ICPR could be used as a primary screening tool for IAs in T2DM patients, especially in primary hospitals without the equipment to test for IAs. The study highlights the potential of 2h-ICPR as a cost-effective alternative for managing insulin therapy in T2DM patients, although it notes the need for larger sample sizes and multi-center data to improve IA assessment criteria.
