TLDR Hyaluronic acid fillers and combination treatments significantly improve facial defects from autoimmune diseases and are well-tolerated.
The retrospective review by Ponzo et al. examined the effectiveness of corrective hyaluronic acid fillers and combination cosmetic treatments for facial cutaneous defects caused by autoimmune connective tissue diseases. The study included a sample of patients who had undergone these treatments and assessed the outcomes. The findings indicated that hyaluronic acid fillers, when used alone or in combination with other cosmetic procedures, significantly improved the appearance of facial defects in patients with autoimmune connective tissue diseases. The treatments were well-tolerated, and the majority of patients reported high satisfaction with the results. This review highlighted the potential of these cosmetic interventions to enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by these conditions.
