TLDR Hormone replacement therapy can improve skin aging in postmenopausal women.
The review discussed the potential of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in treating skin aging, particularly in postmenopausal women. It was found that HRT could alleviate symptoms such as skin dryness, roughness, and atrophy by increasing skin thickness and dermal collagen content. The therapy was shown to improve skin conditions by enhancing fibroblast activity and increasing water, hyaluronic acid, and collagen levels in the skin. The study highlighted that HRT could mitigate the effects of hormonal aging, which, although less significant than photoaging, was easier to treat. Overall, HRT was concluded to be effective in addressing estrogen deficiency and could be used to treat skin aging symptoms.
