TLDR Hair India 2012 was a successful international event focused on combating fake trichology practices and discussing various hair health topics.
The second International Congress of Trichology, Hair India 2012, was held successfully with 750 delegates attending from India and abroad. The conference, themed to combat quackery in trichology, featured a pre-conference workshop where live hair transplant procedures and interventional trichology were demonstrated, although attendance was limited to 100 due to high demand. Keynote speakers included Zoe Diana Draelos on hair and scalp health, Andrew G. Messenger on genetic hair diseases and Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL), and Ralph Trüeb on the role of nutrition and anti-inflammatory agents in treating pattern hair loss (PHL). Original research on melanin transfer was presented by Desmond Tobin, and Vallary Randall discussed the paradoxical effects of androgens on hair growth. The conference also covered pediatric trichology, cicatricial alopecia, trichoscopy, alopecia areata, hair cosmetics, and the use of light and lasers in hair loss treatment. New treatment concepts like bimatoprost and platelet-rich plasma were debated, and the event concluded with an invitation to the next congress in 2014.
