TLDR Improve ventilation and address environmental issues to reduce health complaints.
In 2000, NIOSH conducted a health hazard evaluation at The Centre for Well-Being at The Phoenician Resort in response to employee reports of health issues, including respiratory problems, fatigue, gastrointestinal and neurological issues, hair loss, and skin rashes. The evaluation involved environmental assessments and interviews with 25 employees, revealing issues with temperature, humidity, and ventilation, including elevated CO2 levels and water damage in some areas. Although no widespread microbial contamination was found, the symptoms reported by employees were nonspecific and not linked to a specific cause. NIOSH recommended addressing the environmental issues and conducting a follow-up evaluation to ensure improved conditions and reduced health complaints.
