TLDR Stopping heptaminol medication reversed hair color loss in a patient on dialysis.
A 40-year-old woman with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis since 2021 experienced hair depigmentation after starting heptaminol treatment in March 2023. The depigmentation affected her eyebrows, eyelashes, pubic hair, and body hair, but reverted upon discontinuation of the medication. This case suggests a potential link between heptaminol and hair depigmentation, although the exact mechanism remains unknown. Similar cases have been reported, but drug-induced hair color changes are rare and not well understood.
