    The document reviewed the health claims related to soy isoflavones, including their effects on DNA, proteins, and lipids protection from oxidative damage, maintenance of normal blood LDL cholesterol levels, reduction of vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause, maintenance of normal skin tonicity, contribution to normal hair growth, and cardiovascular health. The panel concluded that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate these health claims. The review involved multiple experts and was requested by the European Commission.
