Hard X-Ray Microscopic Images of the Human Hair

    Researchers used Zernike type phase contrast hard x-ray microscopy with 6.95 keV photon energy to investigate the structure of hair fibers from healthy individuals. This method provided high-resolution images that revealed three distinct structures within the hair: the medulla, cortex, and cuticular layer.
