TLDR Hair transplantation effectively corrects hairline issues after midface-lifting surgery with high patient and physician satisfaction.
From June 2014 to June 2017, a study involving 37 patients who had hair loss or scar deformity in the side hairline after midface-lifting surgery was conducted. These patients, with an average age of 42, underwent hair transplantation surgery and were monitored for over 6 months. They received an average of 1,025 grafts using different donor harvesting methods: the strip method for 24 patients, non-shaven follicular unit extraction for 12 patients, and partial shaving follicular unit extraction for 1 patient. The outcome was positive, with all patients achieving a natural and satisfactory look, reflected in high satisfaction scores of 4.6 from patients and 4.8 from physicians. Additionally, no adverse events like folliculitis were reported, leading to the conclusion that hair transplantation is an effective corrective method for side-hairline issues post midface-lifting surgery.

      community Verteporfin and Microneedling

      in Treatments 9 months ago
Clinical studies by Dr. Barghouthi and Dr. Bloxham indicate that Verteporfin, when used with FUE and FUT hair transplantation methods, shows promise in hair follicle regeneration and minimal scarring due to its ability to inhibit Yes-associated protein (YAP). Microneedling at depths of 3-3.5mm, combined with Verteporfin, could potentially reactivate dormant follicles, although the optimal dosage and application method are still under investigation. Concerns remain about the DHT sensitivity of regenerated follicles, highlighting the need for further research to optimize trauma levels and Verteporfin concentrations to achieve effective and scar-free hair regeneration.

community Losing Hair on Dutasteride? You might have LPP

Men with hair loss might have lichen planopilaris (LPP), which can mimic androgenetic alopecia, leading to misdiagnosis and ineffective treatment with finasteride or dutasteride. Proper diagnosis, including biopsies, is crucial to distinguish between androgenetic alopecia and conditions like LPP.

The conversation discusses Perez Hilton's hair loss despite having three hair transplants. Participants suggest that hair loss can continue after a transplant if maintenance treatments like finasteride and minoxidil are not used, and that transplanted hair can still be susceptible to loss.
