In 2018, Dr. Zhou Youyong conducted a study on 110 young adults experiencing hair loss, consisting of 60 males and 50 females. The study found that the pattern of alopecia was diffuse in 35 cases and patchy in 75 cases. The causes were congenital in 30 cases and acquired in 80 cases. The type of alopecia was non-cicatricial in 92 cases and cicatricial in 18 cases. Associated symptoms included atopic dermatitis, nail pitting, leukonychia, urticaria, and vitiligo. The study concluded that hair loss is a common phenomenon among young adults, with varying patterns, causes, and types.
