TLDR Diethylstilbestrol causes hair loss in male dogs.
A study involving 4 male mongrel dogs, aged 1½ to 3 years and weighing between 15 and 27 lb, investigated the effects of diethylstilbestrol on hair loss. Over several months, the dogs were administered varying doses of stilbestrol, ranging from 330 mg to 2985 mg. The results showed significant hair loss in all dogs, with specific areas such as the right flank, abdomen, thighs, and other regions experiencing hair thinning or complete loss. The study highlights the potential for synthetic estrogens like diethylstilbestrol to cause hair loss in male dogs, similar to effects observed with estradiol benzoate.
