TLDR Keratin film can effectively mimic human hair for testing hair damage.
The study explored the use of keratin film derived from human hair as a substitute for actual human hair in evaluating hair damage. The keratin film was tested against various physical and chemical treatments, including UV exposure, bleaching, perming, and thermal treatments. Results showed that the keratin film responded to these damage factors similarly to human hair, but with significantly higher responses. This indicated that keratin film could serve as an effective model for assessing hair damage, aiding in the development of hair care products.
