Comparison of Hair Heavy Metals in Individuals With and Without Hair Loss
August 2010
TLDR People with hair loss have more heavy metals in their hair.
The study analyzed heavy metal contamination in hair samples from 12 individuals in Seoul and Gyoung-gi, comparing those with and without hair loss. It found that both men and women with hair loss had higher levels of heavy metals, such as lead, manganese, copper, arsenic, and zinc, in their hair compared to those without hair loss. Specifically, women with hair loss showed higher contamination levels of these metals than women without hair loss, and similarly, men with hair loss had higher contamination levels than men without hair loss. The research highlighted the need for attention to potential contamination by aluminum and mercury.
