TLDR Using a mix of finasteride and minoxidil can significantly regrow hair in men with pattern baldness.
In 1996, a case report by Walsh et al. discussed the significant hair regrowth observed in a 32-year-old man with male pattern androgenetic alopecia using a combination of finasteride and minoxidil. The regimen involved a topical solution of 3% minoxidil and 0.01% tretinoin, applied twice daily to the balding scalp. The authors suggested that this regimen could be considered for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate androgenetic alopecia who desire medical therapy, although human trials were still underway at the time.
