The study described idiopathic hair casts in two young girls, aged 5 and 7 years, and found that a 0.025% tretinoin lotion was effective in removing the casts. Microscopic investigations suggested that these lesions originated from the infrainfundibular region, as both inner and outer root sheath components were observed in the casts.
