TLDR Guilu Erxian Glue may help reduce chemotherapy side effects like weight loss and heart stress.
The study from April 5, 2021, investigated the effects of the Chinese herbal medicine Guilu Erxian Glue (GEG) on reducing the adverse side effects of the chemotherapeutic drug Doxorubicin (DOX) in cell and mouse models. The research showed that GEG significantly enhanced antioxidant capacity, reduced DOX-induced cytotoxicity in synoviocyte HIG-82 cells, and alleviated various DOX-induced side effects in mice, including weight loss, motor disability, blood circulation issues, myocardial oxidative stress and inflammation, and bone weakness after 2 weeks of treatment. These findings suggest that GEG could be a protective and alternative therapy for managing chemotherapy-related side effects.
