TLDR Using gratitude journals can improve perceived hair loss and quality of life in women.
In a study on female pattern hair loss (FPHL), patients using gratitude journals reported significant improvements in both perceived hair loss and quality of life. At 1-month follow-up, 83% of the gratitude journal group felt their hair loss was improving, compared to 33% in the control group (p=0.03). The gratitude journal group also showed a 2.3-point improvement in quality of life versus a 0.3-point improvement in the control group (p=0.03). Participants used the journals an average of 2.9 days per week and were likely to recommend them to others.
