Generalized Demodectic Mange in a Pomeranian Dog

    TLDR The Pomeranian dog fully recovered from mange after 35 days of treatment.
    A 4-year-old Pomeranian dog with generalized demodectic mange exhibited symptoms of hair loss, itching, and severe skin lesions. Clinical examination revealed alopecia, crust formation, and erythema, with normal appetite, pulse, and respiratory rates, but a mild fever of 102.8 °F. Microscopic examination of skin scrapings confirmed the presence of Demodex canis. The dog was treated with weekly subcutaneous injections of Ivermectin, Amitraz skin applications, benzoyl peroxide shampoo, oral Cephalexin for secondary infections, and nutritional supplements. The dog fully recovered by the 35th day of treatment.
