TLDR Garlic gel can help hair grow in people with alopecia areata.
The study investigated the efficacy of a 5% garlic topical gel in treating alopecia areata, involving 40 patients divided into two groups, with one receiving the garlic gel and the other a placebo. Conducted over three months, the study found no difference in patch size reduction between the groups in the first two months. However, by the third month, there was a significant increase in hair growth in the garlic gel group (P<0.05). The study concluded that garlic gel could stimulate hair growth in alopecia areata patients, suggesting it as an effective and low-cost treatment, especially for limited forms of the disease.
