Fungal Kerion-Total Scalp Involvement Due to Microsporum Canis Infection

TLDR Griseofulvin is the best treatment for severe scalp infection caused by Microsporum canis.
A 5-year-old girl developed an extensive kerion of the scalp due to Microsporum canis infection, which is rare today. Despite the severity, there was minimal residual cicatricial alopecia. Microsporum canis did not respond well to ketoconazole, making griseofulvin the preferred treatment, often requiring a prolonged course. Corticosteroids were beneficial in managing the inflammatory response in this case.
