TLDR The follicular unit extraction technique is a successful treatment for male hair loss with over 90% hair survival rate and less than 6% complications.
The retrospective study conducted on 158 male patients with androgenetic alopecia from January 2016 to December 2020 at The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Medical University found that the follicular unit extraction (FUE) technique is an effective treatment for male androgenetic alopecia. The results showed that after FUE hair transplantation, the hair follicle survival rate was over 90% for all patients, and over 95% for more than 85% of the patients at 12 months. The patient satisfaction rate was higher than 98%, while the complication rate was less than 6%. Therefore, FUE is a minimally invasive hair transplant technique with high hair follicle survival rate and ideal hair density, making it worthy of clinical application.
