TLDR Fractional CO2 laser treatment could be effective for alopecia areata.
The review article evaluates the efficacy and safety of fractional carbon dioxide (CO2) laser treatment for alopecia areata, a chronic inflammatory condition causing non-cicatricial hair loss. Fractionated CO2 lasers, both ablative and nonablative, are highlighted for their superior safety profile compared to nonfractionated lasers. The article discusses different operating modes of these lasers, including continuous and pulsed, with the ultrapulsed mode offering the highest power and minimal thermal damage. The conclusion suggests that fractional CO2 laser treatment may be an effective option for managing alopecia areata.
