TLDR Using two types of lasers together improves skin tone and collagen remodeling.
This study evaluated the synergistic effects of using fractional ablative CO2 (10.600 nm) and non-ablative (1540 nm) lasers for skin resurfacing on ex vivo sheep skin. The research aimed to assess the therapeutic benefits of sequential laser application with different pulse shapes. Results indicated that while the synergy of the two wavelengths did not change the typical ablative pulse shape of the CO2 laser, it increased the thermal lesion width and total thermal lesion coverage compared to using CO2 alone. The dual-wavelength approach enhanced skin tone and collagen remodeling, suggesting potential for improved cosmetic outcomes in skin rejuvenation treatments.
