TLDR Liposomes with minoxidil and PEP penetrate skin slowly but reach deeper layers than foam.
The study investigated the formulation of anti-hair loss agents into liposomes and assessed their effectiveness. Liposomes containing minoxidil and myristoyl dipeptide-13 (PEP) were prepared and tested for stability under various conditions. Results showed that liposomes with both agents likely oxidized at 25°C and 45°C, with PEP liposomes also showing increased viscosity at 4°C and 25°C. Minoxidil's encapsulation rate remained stable, while PEP's decreased over time, especially at 4°C. Permeability tests on healthy volunteers indicated that both agents, when encapsulated in liposomes, penetrated the skin's stratum corneum more slowly but reached deeper layers compared to conventional foam formulations.
