TLDR Finasteride helps reduce heart enlargement in heart failure patients.
The study investigated the effects of finasteride, an anti-androgenic drug used for prostate disease, on cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure in patients. The retrospective analysis of 1041 medical cases with heart failure found that anti-androgenic therapy with finasteride was associated with significantly reduced left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with heart failure. The study suggests that further analysis of this approach in larger heart failure patient cohorts is encouraged.
