TLDR Finasteride reduces blood vessel formation in seminal vesicles.
The study investigated the effects of finasteride on microvascular density (MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in the seminal vesicles of 40 male SD rats. The rats were divided into four groups, with two groups receiving finasteride and two groups serving as controls. Results showed that finasteride significantly reduced the expression of CD34 and VEGF in the seminal vesicles, indicating that finasteride inhibited angiogenesis in this tissue. Specifically, CD34 expression decreased by 6.7% and 15.8% in the finasteride groups compared to controls, and VEGF expression decreased by 6.9% and 14.1%. The study concluded that finasteride can suppress microvessel formation in the seminal vesicles by inhibiting VEGF expression.
