    A 61-year-old Filipino man presented with persistent erythematous hairless scarring plaques on the scalp and atrophic plaques on the face and upper extremities, initially suggesting discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE). However, a skin punch biopsy revealed histopathological features of lichen planus (LP). This case highlights that LP, particularly its follicular variant lichen planopilaris (LPP), can mimic DLE due to its scarring alopecia and atrophic skin lesions. The study underscores the importance of biopsy in differentiating between these conditions.
