TLDR Low ferritin and Vitamin D levels may cause hair loss after COVID-19.
The study involved 68 women aged 20 to 30, 50 of whom had recovered from COVID-19 and were experiencing hair loss. It found that COVID-19 infection and its complications, such as hair loss, were linked to low levels of ferritin and Vitamin D, both crucial for immunity and hair follicle health. There was also a significant increase in testosterone levels in patients compared to healthy individuals. The researchers concluded that these low levels of ferritin and Vitamin D could lead to significant hair loss post-COVID-19 infection. However, they acknowledged the study's limitations due to its small sample size and called for further research in different ethnic groups.
