Exploration of Therapeutic Ethno-Medicinal Plants Used by Traditional Healers and Practitioners of Raichur District, Karnataka, India

The study documents the use of 69 plants from 38 families by traditional healers in Raichur District, Karnataka, India, for treating 22 different human ailments. Data was collected through interviews, group discussions, and questionnaires, focusing on plant details such as vernacular and scientific names, parts used, and methods of preparation and administration. The ailments treated include fever, epilepsy, infertility, dental care, leprosy, amnesia, hair care (including dandruff and hair loss), digestive issues, skin infections, jaundice, joint pains, ENT disorders, respiratory problems, diabetes, wounds, ulcers, anemia, menstrual issues, vaginal discharge, helminth infections, and kidney stones. The documentation highlights the importance of preserving traditional knowledge as practitioners increasingly turn to modern medicine.
