Personal Experience of Monochromatic Excimer Phototherapy of Alopecia Areata
TLDR 308 nm excimer phototherapy can help some people with alopecia areata regrow hair, especially if their condition is less severe.
The document discusses a personal experience with monochromatic excimer phototherapy for treating alopecia areata. The study involved 11 patients who underwent treatment with a 308 nm excimer laser. The treatment sessions ranged from 2 to 30, with doses between 100-1500 mJ/cm², and were conducted 2-3 times per week over 10-30 weeks. Results showed that 3 patients (27.3%) experienced complete regrowth, 4 patients (36.4%) had partial regrowth, 1 patient (9.1%) showed minimal regrowth, and 3 patients (27.3%) had no response. The study concludes that 308 nm excimer phototherapy can be effective for some patients with alopecia areata, particularly those with less severe forms of the condition (II and III).
