This study conducted in Bayelsa State evaluated serum testosterone, cholesterol, and plasma glucose levels in 50 hirsute (bearded) women compared to 50 non-bearded women. The results indicated that hirsute women had significantly higher levels of cholesterol (4.41 ± 1.09 mmol/L), testosterone, and glucose compared to the control group. The findings suggested that women with hirsutism were associated with hypertestosteronemia, hypercholesterolemia, and hyperglycemia, indicating a potential relationship between hirsutism and these biochemical parameters.
