TLDR Noncultured epidermal cell transplantation is effective for repigmenting stable vitiligo.
The study investigated the effectiveness of noncultured epidermal cell transplantation for treating stable vitiligo in 40 patients. The treatment involved grafting autologous melanocytes and keratinocytes onto laser-abraded vitiligo lesions. Results showed a mean repigmentation of 72%, with 62% of patients achieving ≥70% repigmentation, particularly in the neck and presternal regions. Subjective evaluations indicated significant improvement in quality of life (DLQI score decreased from 6.95 to 3.85, p = 0.013). Patients were generally satisfied and willing to undergo the treatment again. The study concluded that this method is promising for stable vitiligo.
