TLDR Higher estradiol levels slow cashmere goat hair growth.
The study investigated the effects of estradiol on the growth and morphology of cashmere goat primary hair follicles cultured in vitro. Hair follicles were exposed to varying concentrations of 17 β-E2 (0, 0.1, 1.0, 10.0, 100.0 nmol/L). It was found that a concentration of 0.1 nmol/L had a growth rate similar to the control group, while higher concentrations (1.0, 10.0, and 100.0 nmol/L) inhibited growth to varying degrees. Morphological changes were also observed with different concentrations. The research provided a preliminary understanding of how estrogen might regulate hair follicle growth in cashmere goats.
