TLDR Persistent ED in Propecia users is not due to abnormal blood flow.
The study assessed erectile hemodynamics in 35 men with persistent erectile dysfunction (ED) after using 5-alpha reductase inhibitors (5-ARI). The participants were divided into two groups: 27 men who used Propecia for alopecia and 8 men who used 5-ARI for benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). The results showed that erectile hemodynamics were normal in Propecia users. However, 2 out of 8 men in the BPH group exhibited abnormal duplex Doppler penile ultrasound (DUS) results, which could be attributed to vascular risk factors rather than 5-ARI exposure. Overall, the study suggested that persistent ED in Propecia users was not linked to abnormal erectile hemodynamics.
