TLDR A 7-month-old girl with a rare skin disorder died because diagnosis was delayed.
A 7-month-old girl with acrodermatitis enteropathica, a rare genetic disorder impairing zinc absorption, was admitted with severe skin lesions, alopecia, and chronic diarrhea. Despite zinc sulfate supplementation and treatment for bacterial and fungal infections, her condition worsened, leading to sepsis and death 57 days later. This case underscores the critical need for early diagnosis and management to prevent fatal complications.
