TLDR Hair restoration surgery is generally safe, but emergency preparedness is crucial.
Hair restoration surgery was associated with a very low risk of complications, with most surgeons reporting complication rates of less than 1%. Life-threatening emergencies during these procedures were even rarer. Over a span of 35 years, there were reports of five cardiac arrests during hair restoration surgeries, resulting in three deaths, one severe neurological deficit, a "lock-in" syndrome, and three myocardial infarctions. Despite the low incidence, these events highlighted the importance of emergency preparedness in hair restoration surgery.
